Sarai Niamat Khan (also known as Sarai Naimat Khan) is one of the 44 union councils, administrative subdivions, of Haripur District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan[1]. Serai Niamat Khan is located at 34°4'60N 73°1'60E and lies to the east of the district capital Haripur where it borders Abbottabad District[2].

Overview

The Sarai Naimat Khan town is a local business hub for surrounding villages. It is about 15 km from the Haripur District.

Serai Niamat Khan is also connected to Havelian which about 27 km away. Means of transport is road only and most people travel on local buses, pickups and vans.

The main source of income for most of the residents is agriculture but due to lack of water resources it has made people to look for alternate sources of income. In recent years a large number of people have moved to larger cities to work there.

Sarai Naimat Khan village is divided into small areas e.g. Mohallah Tanolian, Mohallah Masjid, Mohallah Khu, Jora Pind, Nearia Abad, Moriyan, Najeeb Abad, Mohalla Ziarat and a few more. All the population is Muslim and there is a main Jamia mosque in the town center.

People are very keen on the importance of education, therefore there are quite a few government and private sector schools in the town. Students from surrounding villages in the union council also come to these schools. However, a significant number of students go to the nearby city Haripur.

Health facilities are basic and there is a small government hospital providing health facilities to the residents. There are also a few private practice health clinics in the town.

Cricket is the most popular game in the area, as it is throughout Pakistan. However there are not many grounds available for youths to play any games. It is one of the key development requirements of the region.

Businesses are mainly located in the main town center (main bazar). Banks and post office are also in the town centre.

People of this u/c belong to different tribes and families. Most of them belong to Gujjar, Awan and Tanoli tribes (the biggest communities of Hazara Division), or the Tanoli family (one of the major families of the Haripur district), and in other main families, Turks and rajas, Rathore, Tarbali and Syed also residing here.

Villages

(جبڑی in Urdu) One of the most underdeveloped areas of Pakistan. There are no health facilities nearby. A small road joins it to the main road. Houses are made of stones, mud and wood. It is a very small village, consisting of only 40 to 45 houses. The village is divided into small "dairas (ڈیرہ in Urdu)" (subdivisions), like Derhi Galli (ڈیری گلی in Urdu), Nalla, Tootni doga, Kerkaan Khlara, Thala, Khola Naka, Kharaan Thala, Chari, Drunia Nalla and Laidi.

A very beautiful, lush green hilly area, having some very beautiful valleys, with natural streams and some beautiful waterfalls. The Government of Pakistan has not yet introduced this area for tourism.

The most populous village of this UC, consisting of almost all the castes and tribes of this area.

(بسوال in Urdu) The second main village of UC, consisting of almost all the castes and tribes of this area. The main caste is AWAN. There is a govt. Girls Middle school in this village. There is a main road passing from this village which meets Havelian to Haripur. A small market having all necessary items like medical stores, Chicken shop, utility store, bakery, tailors, shoe Makers, tent service, hotels and cosmetics are available here. Public transport is available here any time.

Banda Munir Khan is one of the most beautiful village of union council, endowed with natural beauty of green hills, streams and forest lands. It is situated adjacent to Serai niamat khan and lies in the east. there are four mosques in the village, the most famous is the masjid Umer Farooque. The Masjid is one of the important centre for religiuos activities as famous clerics like mufti Rafi Usmani, Moulan Masood Azhar, Abdur Rasheed ghazi (shaheed) and Moulana Azam Tariq visited and delivered their speeches several times. While there is also religious madrassa for girls where Umme Hassan came once.

Trend of education is increasing among the people up till now there are doctors, engineers, army-officers, agriculture officers lectures which this village has given to nation.
